Students from Rollins College participate in SPARC day at Fern CreekElemen-tary School. Each fall a group of new freshmen come to Fern Creek to help clean up the campus.
Students at Fern Creek have college partners to help clean up our many garden areas.
Everyone is always surprised to find so many weeds and even some trash amongst all the bushes.
The Rollins College students along with their Fern Creek partners filled more than a dozen huge bags with weeds and trash!!
The Rollins freshmen were easy to identify in their blue SPARC day shirts.
Over the summer close to 200 Rollins incoming freshmen came to Fern Creek as a part of their summer orientation and helped with some big projects around the school including painting many of our picnic tables.
Our Rollins volunteers did a great job helping us get ready for the fall.
SPARC Day also included inside jobs, such as cleaning over 500 books in the Media Center while they were with us.
By the time a student reaches college they are really good at alphabetizing and making sure all the books are put back correctly on the shelf ready for Fern Creek students to check them out.
Thanks Rollins – you’re a great partner with our students and our staff!!
